“Everything you’ve ever wanted is one step outside of your comfort zone.”

How many times have you stayed in a relationship with someone that you are no longer happy with because of your fear of “starting over”? How many times have you stayed at a job longer than you should have because you think that your expertise level is only good enough for your current position? How many times have you said “I cant wear that because it doesn’t suit my body type” without even trying it on? If you can identify with one of these scenarios or similar, than you my friend could be stuck in the Comfort Zone.

It is completely normal to shy away from doing things due to lack of confidence and fear. The Comfort Zone is familiar to us all and is our safe place. I, myself, am guilty of relying on my Comfort Zone. If nothing else is working out for me, I resort back to what I know, subconsciously. I can admit that being in the Comfort Zone isn’t the best place to be. You’ll notice that you will not accomplish all that you may want to because you are not doing anything different. You cannot do the same things and expect different results. You have to try new things to find out the outcome.

"If you want something you’ve never had, then you have to do something you’ve never done.”

I’ve noticed that the older I get, the more comfortable I become with stepping outside of my Comfort Zone. If I could do it all over again, I would have taken the chances earlier in life when I had less to lose and less worry about. However, I think that the opportunities for  me to step out of my Comfort Zone are more apparent because I am fully equipped  to take on the challenges that the risks may bring. I am a firm believer that everything happens when and how they are supposed to so whatever the outcome is going to be, I will not be able to change it.

Staying in your Comfort Zone will always bring up the question, what if? You will always wonder what the outcome would be. Wouldn’t it be better if you just cleared your conscious and found out for sure? I know for me it would. I hate not knowing how something will turn out so I just try. To motivate me in my pursuit, I ask myself “what’s the worst that can happen?” before trying. The worst is really not bad so I always just go through with my decision and hope for the best.

Everything that I’ve tried did not have the best outcomes. However, at least I know the result and can make the necessary adjustments for when I try again if necessary. I must admit that some things are easier to try than others. I often times push myself to prepare for stepping out of my Comfort Zone on various things. Because there are so many goals that I have that fall outside of the zone, I approach each one at different times and put my best foot forward when I step out and reach.

Are you stuck in your Comfort Zone? Step outside of it and get what you want!
